The matches in CS2 were decreased in time. But just slightly.

An interesting research was conducted by the Leetify service. They looked at the average duration of matches in CS:GO and CS2. 

The researchers checked a million matches in Premier mode in CS2, as well as CS:GO matchmaking with short and long games.

As a result, it turned out that the duration of games in CS2, even due to the transition to 12 rounds, has not changed much. Battles in CS2 take 34 minutes, and in CS:GO 40 minutes. 

Short matches end in 21 minutes.

Meanwhile, Valve has hinted at the release of an update for CS2. We might be in for something interesting on Wednesday, September 27.
