The tournament featured 16 formidable teams vying for two slots in the BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024, with SAW and Team Spirit emerging victorious.

Team Spirit, led by Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov, entered the tournament as one of the favorites, fulfilling the community’s expectations by clinching one of the top spots. However, SAW’s triumph was the tournament’s surprise, defying odds and outperforming fan-favorites such as Cloud9. Out of the 28,198 predictions made by participants, only 40% accurately foresaw the outcome of the matches, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the competition.

The showdown kicked off with an unexpected victory for OG against Heroic. Despite being the underdog, OG showcased dominant performances on both Vertigo and Mirage, securing a decisive win and advancing further in the tournament. Their next challenge is against the Portuguese squad SAW, who have already demonstrated their capability to upset by defeating Team Liquid and Cloud9.

Another noteworthy match saw Monte face off against Metizport, marking the end of sdy’s tenure with Monte following a 2:0 defeat. Both sdy and br0 have departed the team, with sdy playing his final match for Monte due to BLAST regulations.

The day concluded with an intense battle between BIG and Team Spirit, where Team Spirit overcame an early disadvantage on Anubis to secure a win. They continued their momentum on Vertigo, ensuring their spot in the final day’s matches.

The tournament also featured a prediction challenge, rewarding participants with in-game skins based on their foresight. Morales clinched the first place with 80 points, earning an AWP | Containment Breach (Well-Worn), while second and third places were shared among multiple participants, each receiving AWP | Atheris (Minimal Wear) and AWP | Mortis (Minimal Wear), respectively.

As the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2024 progresses towards its conclusion, the stakes remain high with a prize pool distribution that sees the first and second place teams walking away with $20,000 and an invite to the Spring Finals.
