To say that MOUZ were phenomenal defending their crown in CS2 against TEAM VITALITY in the exciting climax of the EPL S19 would be a gross understatement. The team from the young international side displayed a unique combination of craft and tactical nuance, repeatedly proving its flexibility and adaptability in some really tough matches against more seasoned and proven sides.
It was from the very beginning that MOUZ showed their supremacy with their flawless wins in six matches, not losing any series and dropping only two maps amid heated competition. Finally, in a brilliant performance of theirs, Team Liquid faced Team Vitality whose off-the-ground run had ended their chance of winning the finals. In spite of Vitality’s excellent performance, the power-shooter Mathieu “ZywOo” was not the deciding factor in the match; MOUZ still thrived in the battle.
Dorian ‘xertioN’ Berman played a key role for MOUZ, achieving an impressive 56 to 41 kill-death ratio over the three grand final maps. There is no one better than him on MOUZ, and he stands unmatched even as a professional. The match began perfectly for the team when they gained the advantage on Vitality’s pick, Inferno, securing a 13-9 win and then closing out the round on their own choice, Mirage, with a score line of 13-8. To complete the set of three maps, MOUZ played on Nuke and, taking advantage of several opportunities from the very beginning, they established an early 7-0 lead on the scoreboard, which most definitely secured a 13-5 finish and prevented any chances of a late comeback.
Following their win in the Malta arena, one of their standout players, Ádám “Torszi” Torzsás of Mouz, clearly demonstrated evidence of their ability to continue their winning streak in larger venues. “We are the kings of the studio,” said Torzsás, highlighting the exceptional bond between the team members in smaller events.
Each team faced tough challenges on their way to the final battle. Vitality had to defeat FaZe Clan and then stunned Astralis, who had reverse swept to advance to the finals. MOUZ also proved themselves in their own way by not only defeating both G2 Esports and Complexity but doing so in a spectacular manner, earning their place in the grand finals.
While ZywOo and his team, Mousesports (MOUZ), won a record 19th career MVP award from HLTV, the weekend undoubtedly belonged to the team as they not only managed to defend their Pro League title but also broke the record for winning the most matches by number of rounds.
After MOUZ achieved a significant victory, the local esports community is now keen to see if they can transfer the energy from their home courts to larger and more competitive stages. At this moment, MOUZ still enjoys the success brought by their second ESL Pro League title and hopes to raise the bar even further.
