Cyber Sports Capital in the Middle East – GAMERS8
Gamers8 has announced that from August 14 to 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, they will host a CS:GO tournament offering a prize of 1 million dollars and involving 12 “elite” teams. The second edition of the self-proclaimed “largest gaming and esports festival in the world” will take place over eight weeks in the capital of Saudi Arabia, starting on July 6. The ESL FACEIT Group, owned by the Savvy Games Group and backed by the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Wealth Fund, will act as the producing company for the event.
History of Gamers8 Tournaments
The esports festival began in May 2020 when the Saudi Arabia Esports Federation announced the start of the international online tournament GAMERS WITHOUT BORDERS for CS:GO, with a prize pool of 2 million dollars. The first participants of that tournament were the invited teams: G2, Natus Vincere, MOUZ, fnatic, FaZe, OG. Additionally, Liquid and 100 Thieves played a special showcase match. The main idea of the entire festival was to raise money for the treatment of those affected by COVID-19. The winners of the online festival were players from Na’Vi, who defeated MOUZ in the finals with a score of 3-2 and earned $750,000 for donation. In the showcase match, 100 Thieves were stronger than Liquid and won 2-0, playing on Cache and Tuscan.
Brand Development
In 2021, the Esports Federation, in cooperation with ESL and SAFEIS, held the second tournament – Gamers Without Borders 2021. The championship played out 1,500,000 dollars, all of which went to charity.
This time, 8 teams were divided into 2 groups. Among them were: Group A – ENCE, MOUZ, Ninjas in Pyjamas, MIBR; Group B – BIG, FURIA, FaZe, Dignitas. The tournament was won by BIG, who defeated FURIA in the final with a score of 2-0.
