The Counter-Strike 2 competition, a key highlight of the Esports World Cup, will take place from July 17th to July 21st. Fifteen elite teams from around the globe will vie for a share of the $1 million prize pool. This competition is organized by ESL and the Esports World Cup Foundation, with teams qualifying through a mix of invites and regional qualifiers.
The tournament format is distinctive, featuring three stages: the Opening Stage, the Last Chance Stage, and the Playoffs. Initially, 14 of the 15 teams will compete in the Opening Stage in a Best-of-Three (BO3) format. Winners advance directly to the Playoffs, while the losers join JiJieHao in the Last Chance Stage. This stage involves a Best-of-One (BO1), single-elimination bracket to determine the final playoff spot. The Playoffs will then proceed with a BO3 single-elimination bracket to crown the tournament winner.
This event promises numerous captivating storylines. G2 will debut their new roster, and teams like The MongolZ and Sashi will showcase their development. At the top of the global rankings, Team Spirit aims for greater consistency, while teams like Vitality, MOUZ, and FaZe are eager to challenge the current top squad. The Esports World Cup 2024 is set to be a thrilling spectacle, drawing the attention of esports fans worldwide.
